The Wiener Spiele Akademie (Vienna games academy) has announced this year's winners of the Austrian games award. As "Spiel der Spiele" ("game of games"), suitable for all target groups, the main prize went to the quiz game Smart 10 by Arno Steinwender and Christoph Reiser, published by Austrian manufacturer Piatnik: 100 cards show one question and ten possible answers each, the latter covered with markers. The players choose an answer, lift the marker and check whether it is correct. If the answer is right, the player keeps the marker and passes the "smart box" on to the next participant, who then chooses from the remaining nine answers. Incorrect answers forfeit all markers collected in that round.

In addition, the academy awarded numerous "Spiele-Hits" in several categories. The best "Spiele-Hits für Kinder" for children include the deduction and collecting game Banditti by Karin Hetling (publisher: beleduc), the running / dice game Da bockt der Bär by Treo Game Designers (Zoch) and the collecting game Grizzly by Anna Oppolzer and Stefan Kloß (Amigo). Just as many titles were honoured as "Spiele-Hits für Familien" for families, including the magnetic skill game Bermuda Pirates by Jeppe Norsker (Huch!), the dice racing game Krasserfall by Bernhard Weber (Ravensburger) and the city-building game Tiny Towns by Peter McPherson (Pegasus). "Spiele-Hits für Freunde" are intended for players ages twelve and older: the auction game Daddy Winchester by Jérémy Pinget (Huch!), the cooperative trick game The Crew by Thomas Sing (Kosmos) and the party game Truth Bombs by Phil Lester (HCM Kinzel). Experienced players find challenges in the "Spiele-Hits für Experten", among them the city-building game Airship City by Masaki Suga (Spielefaible), the construction game Aufbruch nach Newdale by Alexander Pfister (Lookout) and the worker-placement game Wasserkraft by Simone Luciani and Tommaso Battista (Feuerland).

As special prizes, the commission bestowed honors to games it considered "particularly noteworthy" and wanted to put them in the spotlight in addition to the main prize. For example, winners in the "Spiele-Hits Karten" category included the card games HiLo by Eilif Svensson and Knut Stromfors (Schmidt), the bluff game Spicy by Zoltán Györi (HeidelBÄR) and the sorting game Yokai by Julien Griffon (Game Factory). Another special "Spiele-Hits Trend" prize went to the family edition of Escape Room Das Spiel Jumanji by Sjaak Griffioen (Noris), the logic game Invasion of the Cow Snatchers by Bob Hearn (Thinkfun / Ravensburger) and the roll-&-mark game Man muss auch gönnen können by Ulrich Blum and Jens Merkl (Schmidt).
