Today the French games company Asmodee announced that it will acquire the Canadian Plan B Games Group. This means that in addition to Plan B, the labels Next Move, Pretzel Games and Eggertspiele will also move into the Asmodee program. Plan B Games had been founded in 2016 by Sophie Gravel; in 2017 she bought the German publisher Eggertspiele. In Canada and Germany, Plan B Games employs a total of 18 people. Last September, Asmodee had initially only taken over distribution for Plan B Games.

Starting in May, Asmodee's German subsidiary will exclusively sell all games by the aforementioned developers, including well-known titles such as Azul (Spiel des Jahres 2018), Camel Up (SdJ 2014), the Century card game trilogy, or Great Western Trail, as well as the new releases Alma Mater, Beez, and Equinox. Asmodee pointed out that by now eight "Spiel des Jahres" winners belong to its own catalog (including Just One, Codenames, Colt Express, Dixit, Ticket to Ride as well as Carcassonne).

Sophie Gravel commented: "I am delighted that the Plan B Games family will be part of the great Asmodee team. The extensive network will provide our titles with a broader distribution base as well as with a larger community of players worldwide. We will continue to strive to publish games with the same care and attention to detail that have always been our driving force. Our goal remains the same: to deliver unforgettable gaming experiences, both through depth of gameplay and high-quality materials."

Asmodee CEO Stéphane Carville added: "Year after year, Plan B Games Group has proven its creativity and sense of aesthetics by developing highly successful games such as Azul, which naturally finds its place among our pillar brands alongside Ticket to Ride. We are very pleased that Sophie Gravel and her teams, with whom we've built a close partnership over the years, will join our group and participate in the development of our game range."
